Emmanuel Acho questioned Michael Strahan’s decision to have a child at age 54, suggesting it may be negligent.
Acho expressed concerns about older parents possibly not being present for significant parts of their kids’ lives.
Strahan (54) welcomed his latest child with girlfriend Kayla Quick (37) earlier this year.
Good Morning America co-host Michael Strahan welcomed his fifth child, his first with girlfriend Kayla Quick, earlier this year, and former Fox Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho has thoughts.
On the latest episode of his podcast, Speakeasy, Acho questioned Strahan’s decision to become a father again in his fifties. Strahan, the former New York Giants defensive end, turns 55 in November and is in a relationship with a woman 17 years younger.
“I’m just thinking, like, if you have a kid at 55, 54, whatever the case is, are you putting your child in a position to get clowned?” Acho said, per The Daily Mail. “Now you’re Strahan… so it doesn’t matter. [But] there comes a point where even well-intended parents might be setting their kids up for jokes.”
Acho, a former NFL linebacker, suggested that bringing a child into the world at Strahan’s age is negligent. “Strahan is going to be 72 when his child is graduating high school,” he stated. “I’m pro-life, but are you setting your kids up? You know, here’s my problem: Is that not negligent?”

He continued, “If you know you’re not going to be around very long for the child’s life, then is it, to some degree, negligent to bring a child into the world knowing you may not be around very long to raise that child?”
Strahan has five children, including a daughter, Tanita, and son, Michael, with his first wife, Wanda Hutchins. He also shares twin daughters, Sophia and Isabella, with his second wife, Jean Muggli. Strahan and Muggli divorced in 2006, and the former began dating Quick in 2015.
Quick, the co-founder and CEO of beauty and wellness brand Fizzness, tends to keep a low profile. However, she did accompany Strahan to his Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony in January 2023.
Acho, meanwhile, was one of several hosts Fox Sports fired in 2025 during a network-wide shakeup. “In sports, when you’re not good enough, you get cut,” he wrote on social media at the time. “In TV, when you’re not good enough, you get canceled. I’m not going to try and come to y’all with some ‘Big announcements soon. Stay tuned’ because I don’t actually know what’s coming. But what I do know is I trust God.”
In September 2025, Acho and his longtime co-host LeSean McCoy launched the YouTube show Speakeasy, which streams live after NFL games.
