Strahan, 54, was there every step of the way when his daughter Isabella was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2024.

He helped share her story on Good Morning America, which he co-hosts, and it inspired a legion of people through their own struggles.

One of those people was actress Olivia Munn, who had to deal with her mother getting breast cancer.

It came just one year after Munn had also been diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2024, two months after Isabella’s diagnosis.

And Strahan and Munn, two longtime friends, shared a truly emotional moment on the GMA sofa on Wednesday, Oct. 21, discussing their experiences.

Munn thanked the Fox NFL Sunday star live on air for helping her navigate her mother’s difficult journey with cancer.

“Michael and I have been friends for a really long time and something that I learned very personally through this journey was that it’s one thing to be a cancer patient, it’s another thing to be the caregiver of someone going through cancer,” she said on the show.

“When my mom was diagnosed, it was right around the same time Michael’s daughter had gone public with her brain cancer journey.

“I was struggling so much and kept thinking about what my mom had to go through.

“You think about your moms and you wanna take care of them.”

She continued, “I remember, I said to Michael, ‘I just want to put it onto my cancer tab. Like, let me do it. I can do it. I don’t want her to go through this. I want to do it and I feel so helpless.’ “

“And you said something that was so impactful that has stayed with me every day of that journey,” she added.

“He said, ‘But you can’t. You can’t do it for them, but what you can do is be there for them.’ And it was so simple and I knew that you were doing it for your daughter and I thought, if you can do it then I can do it.

“It just gave me a road map to get through it and be there for her. So, thank you so much.”

It was at that point that Strahan was fighting back tears on the show and called Munn one of the strongest people he knows.

“You’re gonna make me cry today,” he said on the verge of tears. “I’m getting there.”
