Kelly Clarkson finally reveals the regretful reason why her famous show had to end after 7 seasons.
Kelly Clarkson Reveals Why She’s Walking Away From The Kelly Clarkson Show After 7 Seasons
Kelly Clarkson explained her decision to end The Kelly Clarkson Show amid a successful run and seven seasons, and how her kids influenced her choice.
It didn’t take long for Kelly Clarkson to decide should she stay or should she go.
In fact, following the death of her ex-husband and father of her kids Brandon Blackstock—who passed in August following a battle with cancer—the decision to end The Kelly Clarkson show after a seven-season run was made all that much simpler.

“I think everybody gets the timing,” Kelly—who shares kids River, 11, and Remington, 9, with Brandon—said during a Feb. 20 interview on Today. “Our family life, the dynamic changed a bit, and it has changed for a minute now. I think it’s one of those things like, you kind of start seeing life as how precious it is, too.”
Though Kelly decided to break away from daytime television, she assures fans that she’s not stepping away from her other projects including The Voice, where she serves as a judge.
“I know everybody thinks, ‘Oh she’s like quit,’” she said. “I’m really busy. I still have other jobs, I’m still doing stuff. There’s just too much on the plate, so I was like you know what? It’s time to pull back.”
This is not to say that the decision wasn’t a bittersweet one, with the “Because of You” singer calling her time on the series “amazing.”
“That’s what was really hard,” the 43-year-old explained. “The crew’s been incredible, it wasn’t the show isn’t doing well, that’s what kinda of sucked. Everything was going well, that’s what was really hard.”
“It’s people’s jobs and we’re a family there as well,” Kelly added. “That was really hard for me, but an easy decision as a mama. It’s a big deal for our team.”
However, there is a high note that comes with the end of The Kelly Clarkson Show. Indeed, according to the “Miss Independent” singer, there’s more time for music.

“Fans keep asking for music,” she said on Today. “There’s no time, the grind of doing the daily thing is a lot.”
After returning to her show, following a brief absence after Brandon’s death, Kelly briefly opened up about the dynamic at home with River and Remy, as they coped with the loss of their father.
“My kids, they’re 9 and 11,” she said during a Q&A on the Kelly Clarkson Show YouTube channel uploaded Jan. 10. “They’re that special little fun stage where they can wipe their own behinds, but they’re still small enough to, like, love cuddling and love snuggles.”
“There’s been a lot for our family recently,” she added. “And so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit.”
While her space has gotten a little more crowded at nighttime, the Grammy winner wouldn’t have it any other way.
“It’s my two dogs, my two kids and me,” she said. “It’s a lot. It’s been really special, though, because the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So that’s probably my favorite time of day.”
