NBC bosses were seemingly ready to roll out the red carpet for country king Blake Shelton and pop powerhouse Gwen Stefani, but the couple’s highly anticipated return to The Voice has now been “derailed.”
The superstar duo had been pursued by NBC executives to appear on the milestone Season 30 alongside longtime fan favorites Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson, insiders exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

“NBC wanted Blake and Gwen back to reunite with Adam and Kelly for Season 30,” a source claimed.
“The network made generous offers. Blake and Gwen even made sure their Summer tours carved out enough time in late Summer so they were able to make the filming schedule work.
“Something on Blake and Gwen’s side derailed all of that and they decided not to return to the show.
“It was not NBC’s decision, they wanted Blake and Gwen back and would still welcome them with open arms,” the insider added.
Rather than Blake and Gwen joining Adam and Kelly, the quartet of coaches for Season 30 will be rounded out by Hollywood icon Queen Latifah and Academy of Country Music Awards winner, Riley Green.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to NBC for comment.

The shocking change-up comes despite both stars seemingly having enough breathing room in their schedules to make a comeback on The Voice happen.
Gwen, 56, is currently headlining a Las Vegas residency at the city’s iconic The Sphere with her band No Doubt.
The residency launched earlier this month and runs through June, with multiple dates scheduled throughout the rest of May and early Summer.
Meanwhile, Blake, 49, has been holding court just down the Strip with his own Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum.
His performances run through late May before his Summer touring schedule picks back up with dates in July and August.
Both of their schedules clear up in early August, when previous filming for The Voice took place.
The timing appeared ideal for the married pair to slide back into the iconic spinning chairs later this year – especially as NBC gears up for a nostalgia-heavy anniversary season.
Blake first joined The Voice in 2011 as one of the show’s original coaches alongside Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green and Maroon 5 frontman, Adam.

Over the years, the country star became synonymous with the franchise, winning the competition a whopping nine times before announcing his exit in 2022.
Blake officially departed following Season 23 in 2023 after more than a decade in the famous red chair.
Gwen joined the NBC hit in 2014 during Season 7 and quickly became a fan favorite thanks to her playful chemistry with Blake.
Their friendship famously blossomed into romance after both endured highly publicized divorces in 2015 – Blake from Miranda Lambert and Gwen from Gavin Rossdale.
The pair confirmed they were dating later that year and eventually tied the knot in July 2021 at Blake’s Oklahoma ranch.
While Gwen continued appearing on select seasons of The Voice after Blake’s departure, she has not returned as a coach since Season 26.
