‘The Price Is Right’: Cliffhangers Game Undergoes Change for ‘Star Trek’ Episode.

The last official The Price Is Right episode of Season 54 had a big change to a beloved game. The game show celebrated 60 years of Star Trek and changed up a component of the game, Cliffhangers.

Typically, for Cliffhangers, a mountain man/yodeler climbs up a mountain after a contestant guesses the prices of various items. Each dollar amount that they are away from the actual price, the mountain man climbs up the mountain. As long as the yodeler is still on the mountain by the end of the game, they win the prize.

For the September 8 episode, which celebrated six decades of the beloved franchise, the mountain man had turned into a Vulcan. Vulcans are a warp-capable humanoid species from the planet Vulcan who strictly adhere to logic, suppress emotion, and have remarkable physical strength. The yodeler is expected to return for Season 55.

Jodee Wheeler was the third Trekkie to beam down to the stage. She bid $1,200 on three Star Trek watches. The actual retail price was $1,480.

Wheeler got to play Cliffhangers for the Star Trek: The Cruise X prize package to the Caribbean, which included a $2,000 amenities credit. It also came with a four-night hotel stay in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The first item was a six-quart colander. Wheeler guessed that it was $21. She was wrong, but the Vulcan only moved one spot since it was $20.

Wheeler guessed that the display case was $32. The game show contestant was wrong, but the Vulcan only moved up three spaces as it was $35.

Finally, for the neck pillow, Wheeler said that it was $42. She was off by $3 since it was $45. Wheeler won the cruise and screamed loudly.

She did not advance to the Showcase as she spun 1.30 on the wheel. Her opponent, Rudolph, spun a .90, so he advanced.

“Love it!” one fan said when the clip was posted to Instagram.

“Fantastic!” said another.

“I’m so jealous of this,” added a third.

The Season 55 premiere has not yet been announced. The game show typically starts in late September/early October, so keep an eye out for a premiere date.
