The Voice Season 29: The Ultimate Episode-by-Episode Guide for Super Fans
As each new episode of The Voice: Battle of Champions airs on NBC, Season 29 continues to deliver new twists at every turn. Not only do Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine make up The Voice’s first three-Coach line-up, two new in-season competitions have been introduced and severals familiar faces have returned to the infamous Hollywood studio. Voting for the next winner of The Voice has also gotten a shake-up!
The Coaches’ choices have been tougher than ever, thanks to the off-the-charts musical talent we’ve seen so far. And, according to Levine, it’s going to be a close call. “There’s three people, one on each team, that I do genuinely believe could win this thing,” Levine told NBC Insider in a press junket ahead of Season 29’s premiere.
“This is tricky season because it’s in-house voting, it’s live voting,” Clarkson chimed in, referring to The Voice’s new, updated voting system for Season 29 where the studio audience, comprised of former Voice Artists and super fans, will vote for their favorites in real-time. “That, I think, is going to change everything.”
“We’ve never seen it before,” Legend added. “It’ll be like a little scientific experiment … because it’ll be very different from America voting.”

What happened on The Voice Season 29, Episode 1?
The Blind Auditions Premiere
Air date: February 23, 2026
The premiere episode of The Voice Season 29 kicked off the first night of Blind Auditions, where hopeful Artists performed for the Coaches to earn a spot on Team Legend, Team Kelly, or Team Adam. The Coaches made their decisions to turn their chairs based solely on what they could hear and began to build their teams of 10 Artists each. And the stakes were higher than ever as there were no Blocks to use this time around. This episode also introduced The Voice’s all-new Triple Chair Competition, where the Coaches competed amongst themselves to score the most 3-Chair Turns during the Blind Auditions to win a Super Steal for the next round.
Alexia Jayy from Mobile, Alabama became the first Artist of The Voice: Battle of Champions to earn a Triple Chair Turn on February 23 and had the Coaches duking it out after her performance of Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” Abigayle Oakley’s Blind Audition also scored a 3-Chair Turn after she sang an acoustic rendition of “Call Your Girlfriend” by Robyn, while Levine explained that he still has a fear of fighting for country singers after his many years of working with The Voice’s resident cowboy and OG Coach Blake Shelton.

The Blind Auditions Part 2
Air date: March 2, 2026
The second night of The Voice Season 29’s Blind Auditions officially got underway! Legend, Levine, and Clarkson continued to listen to more performances and add more Artists on their teams. Some highlights of the March 2 episode included Mike Steele from Tutwiler, Missouri earning a 3-Chair Turn after the Coaches heard his “rich baritone,” and Legend scoring Texas native Kendra Remedios, who wowed him with the “crackle” and “grit” in her voice. Levine also promised that he’d “pester” Shelton “on a daily basis” if country singer JW Griffin, AKA “Bread Man,” chose his team. The country competition remained fierce, leading Levine to do a somersault on stage when Hunter Jordan, a Triple Chair Turn, chose Team Adam.

The Blind Auditions Part 3
Air date: March 9, 2026
The March 9 episode of The Voice Season 29 marked the final night of Blind Auditions. Clarkson became the first Coach to fill her team, which was a tough pill for her to swallow when Syd Millevoi took the stage and gave a passionate performance of Jessie J’s “Mamma Knows Best.” Unable to push her button for anyone else, Legend observed that “Kelly’s hurting right now.” Clarkson did, however, score the final Triple Chair Turn of the season after Mikenley Brown’s “ethereal” Blind Audition and ultimately won the coveted Super Steal.
Team Legend filled up next, scoring soulful Artists like KJ Willis, while Levine made the final call of the season when he turned his chair for country singer Jared Shoemaker. And with that, all three Coaches announced, “Our teams are full!” Here’s a full breakdown of each team after The Voice Season 29 Blind Auditions.

The Battles Premiere
Air date: March 16, 2026
After the Blinds comes the Battles on The Voice, where two team members are paired up to sing the same song together, and Season 29 kicked off with a bang. Clarkson didn’t wait long to use her Super Steal; in fact, she used on the very first Battle of the night to save her own Artist, 16-year-old Liv Ciara, who nearly got stolen by both Legend and Levine. The March 16 episode also introduced this season’s Battle Advisors: Team Legend worked with Muni Long, Team Adam teamed up with Benji Madden, and Team Kelly got advice from Alumni Coach Jennifer Hudson.
As the Battles got underway, Bay Simpson surprised the Coaches with his “weird, rock ‘n roll” performance, scoring the win, and while 14-year-old AJ Robinson didn’t win his Battle against Lucas West, everyone agreed that he’s, as Clarkson gushed, “so cute.” At the very end of the episode, Legend used his one Steal of the season on Moses G. after his uplifting performance “Nightshift” by The Commodores. Legend’s oldest daughter, Luna, also made an adorable cameo on The Voice set with her little brother Miles.

The Battles Part 2
Air date: March 23, 2026
The teams continued to whittle down as The Voice Season 29 began the second night of Battles. With so much talent happening at once, the Coaches were faced with their toughest decisions yet. Heck, Jennifer Hudson’s shoe even went flying during rehearsals (don’t worry, it’s the highest of compliments). Legend was kicking himself for pairing up Mike Steele and KJ Willis, but Levine saved the day by using his only Steal on Mr. Steele. The episode also featured Drew Russell and Jared Shoemaker’s beautiful duet of “Leather and Lace” that had Clarkson dreaming up of a new button on The Voice.
By the end of the episode, each team was down to six Artists each as Legend teased that the next stage of the competition, the Knockouts, will be “so competitive.” Get a full recap of the Battles here and see each team heading to The Voice Season 29 Knockouts here.

The Knockouts Premiere
Air date: March 30, 2026
With no Saves and no Steals, The Voice proved just how “cutthroat” the Knockouts are this time around, which will end with only three Artists on each team. For this round of the competition, two Artists are paired against a teammate and select their own songs to perform individually while the other watches nearby. But before anyone took the stage, they got to work with their Season 29 Mega Mentors: Team Legend and Team Adam rehearsed with CeeLo Green, while Team Kelly got tips from Michael Bublé.
The Knockout performances delivered so much grit and talent that Levine was even seen whispering “help me” to his fellow Coaches before he ultimately deemed Jeremy Keith the winner against Mike Steele. Also in the episode, Alexia Jayy’s Knockout performance of Whitney Houston’s “You Give Me Good Love” inspired Clarkson to run up on stage to hug her. Clarkson was in for another emotional moment when her Artist, Liv Ciara, performed a rendition of the Coach’s 2004 hit “Breakaway.”
