Fans were ecstatic to discover Alexia Jayy, who was on Team Adam, had won The Voice season 29.

Alexia also made history as the first Black woman to ever win The Voice.

The final episode of The Voice season 29 premiered on April 14, and fans were on the edge of their seats to discover which artist would take it all, with Alexia, Lucas West, Mikenley Brown, and Liv Ciara—along with their coaches, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend—all vying to be crowned the winner.

After Lucas and Mikenley got eliminated, only Alexia and Liv were left standing in the final moments of the finale. But there could only be one winner for The Voice season 29, and Alexia managed to emerge victorious. Even more, Alexia made history as the first Black woman to ever win the competition series.

When viewers discovered who managed to come out on top for The Voice season 29, fans couldn’t hold back their excitement on social media.

“She made history as the first African American woman winner to win the show! I love her so much! I cannot wait for her album! 🙌🔥,” one person wrote in the comments. “Congratulations, I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more. You are so beautiful and amazing. 🙏,” another agreed. “KNEW IT AS SOON AS I HEARD HER AUDITION 🔥🔥🔥🙌😍 So proud! While Alexia didn’t necessarily share her thoughts about her win just yet, Adam certainly alluded to the potential his artist had in winning The Voice. As he shared in an Instagram video ahead of the finale, he was proud of the entire journey she went on to get to where she is today.

“There are few that can do what Alexia can do,” he said in the snippet. “This is one of the most amazing singers I’ve ever had the privilege of working with, and I’m truly humbled and honored.”
