Jenna Elfman, who plays Eve Drake on Shifting Gears, has expressed interest in returning for Season 3.
Elfman is set to star as a series regular in the upcoming Fox drama The Interrogator.
The show’s showrunner confirmed plans for more of Elfman’s involvement.

Are Matt Parker and Eve Drake done for good on Shifting Gears, or is there hope for her to come back? Jenna Elfman, who plays Drake, weighed in on whether she will return for Season 3 after her character’s Season 2 ending and new role.

In the Season 2 finale, Drake returned home after spending a few months on tour as a choreographer. She and Parker (Tim Allen) reunited after he decided to go on a few dates, but none of them panned out. The final moments of the season saw the former couple traveling to Barcelona together for the next leg of the tour to try to make their relationship work again.

Fans are not sure if Elfman will return for Season 3 because the couple has been on-again, off-again throughout the season. But the actress weighed in on whether or not she will return to the ABC show, especially now that she is set to star in a new Fox series.

“I can go play on Shifting Gears,” she told Us Weekly at the Fox Upfronts on May 11.

Jenna Elfman is set to star in the new series The Interregator, alongside Luke Kleintank and Michael Beach as series regulars, according to Deadline on May 4. The 12-episode series will see Elfman play Woodrow, a former rising star in the CIA whose career was derailed after a mission went awry.

She would also like to have her Shifting Gears love interest make an appearance on the show.  “[Having Tim Allen on] would be very entertaining. He’s very funny, and I think Stephen interrogating Tim Allen [would be cool],” she told the outlet.

So, while Drake and Parker’s relationship status is currently unknown, it appears that Elfman will most likely return to Shifting Gears next season, if the writers choose to go in that direction.

Whether her appearance would be in a breakup scene or a continuation of their relationship is not yet known. She took on a guest role in Season 1, but appeared in more episodes in Season 2.

Showrunner Michelle Nader told The Wrap, “I promise you there will be more Jenna Elfman [on the show] as long as I’m alive.”

Season 3 of the ABC show won’t air until 2027, so Elfman may have time to film both projects.
