Our Take On Preta Gil’s Tragic Death After Cancer Battle

Preta’s Death Is A Major Loss

Preta’s long battle with cancer inspired many, especially since she openly discussed it with her social media followers. Since Preta comes from a well-known famous family in Brazil, she’s been in the spotlight for many years, which makes her death all the more difficult for fans to process.

Preta was especially close to her father, Gilberto Gil, a Brazilian musician and politician. She credited her love for music to her dad, and the two collaborated together often. Sadly, Preta’s last performance, in April 2025, was with her father on his tour.
