Anne Schedeen, a longtime actress who starred as Kate Tanner in the 1980s hit sitcom “ALF,” has died at the age of 77.
Her death was announced by her family in a post on social media.
“She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of creative energy, whip smart humor, delight in her family, adoration for little dogs, burning hatred for Trump, passion for second-hand thrifting, and love for a good story,” the post said. “We are bereft without her. We loved her so so much, as did all who met her.”
According to her biography on IMDb.com, Schedeen was born on Jan. 8, 1949, in Portland, Oregon. She was married to actor/producer Christopher Barrett for 55 years.
She appeared in more than 100 episodes of “ALF,” which was about a family caring for an alien that crash-landed on Earth.
Her first TV acting credit was in a 1974 episode of “The Six Million Dollar Man.” She had a long career with appearances in multiple hit TV shows, including “Ironside,” “The Bionic Woman,” “Three’s Company,” “Cheers,” “Magnum, P.I.,” and “Judging Amy.”
“She was a force,” the family’s post said. “And it is unimaginable to think about life without her in it. But as she said, ‘I’m always with you.’ And she’s right.”
She is survived by her husband; their daughter, Taylor Barrett; and several other family members.
