How Steve Howey Really Felt About Working With Reba McEntire On The Sitcom, Reba

Reboots can be very risky, especially when compared to the original. That ’90s Show proved to be a rare win for reboots, with a successful first season. The series did a great job in creating news stars like Callie Haverda, while still giving the fans the proper amount of nostalgia needed with former cast members.
Other sitcoms won’t dare to reboot their series. Brad Garrett and Ray Romano both agreed that the Everybody Loves Raymond revival won’t take place because of the passing of Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts. Even a successful series like Friends settled for one reunion episode, despite the rumors of a possible film.
As for Reba McEntire’s series, Reba, rumors are still circulating about its revival. We’ll take a look at the cast and whether or not they are interested in rebooting the show. In addition, we’ll take a closer look at Steve Howey’s relationship with Reba, and if he’d return to the show.
Reba McEntire And The Cast Were Very Much Open To A Revival Of Reba

On The WB and CW, Reba lasted six seasons and 127 episodes, finishing its production in 2007. Despite the show ending more than a decade ago, Reba is still asked about the potential of a reboot. In 2022, she seemed a little more optimistic about the potential.
“Really been trying hard to do a reboot,” adding, “I really want to work with the people that I got to work with during that six and a half years,” McEntire revealed.
Others from the cast would be open to a revival as well. García Swisher revealed she’d sign on if it was to take place.
“I think it’s been more than just thought about and something that I think we would all really love to be a part of. It’s very much in our hearts and our minds and topics of conversations.”
McEntire would go on to reveal that the biggest hurdle in getting it done had to do with scheduling the cast.
“So many obstacles,” McEntire told. “The TV business changes so much that sometimes reboots are hot and then they’re not. Plus getting everyone scheduled together is also hard. Steve Howie is very busy, and so is Joanna Garcia. Mellisa [Peterman] is doing wonderful and here we are making a movie together. I guess timing and schedule will dictate that in the future.”
Steve Howey would go on to major success following the series. However, he hasn’t forgotten where he got his big start from.
Steve Howey Had A Blast Working Alongside Reba McEntire, And Would Agree If A Reba Reboot Was Given The Green Light

Clearly, the actor was fond of his experience on the sitcom and despite all the success that followed his career, Howey is still very much open to rebooting the series alongside his former castmates.
“Yeah, I mean, I don’t even know because when I played Van on that show, I was in my early 20s. And to see where Van is now and where the family is, I mean, I would do anything. Reba says, ‘Jump,’ and I’ll say, ‘How high?’”
Howey’s schedule in 2023 featured multiple appearances in True Lies, taking on the role of Harry Tasker. However, he seems optimistic about making time for Reba if the opportunity presents itself. Unfortunately, Reba hasn’t been as positive about the revival in recent times.
Reba McEntire Recently Revealed That A Reba Reboot Looks Less Likely, But Isn’t Completely Off The Table

A lot can change in a year. Speaking to E News in early 2023, it seems like McEntire’s tone changed about the chance of a reboot finally taking place. Although she wouldn’t take it off the table completely, Reba admitted that the odds lessened.
“We talked about that a lot,” McEntire said. “I don’t think that’s ever going to come to fruition, but maybe one of these days.”
During the same interview, Reba did put a smile on the face of many fans, stating that she’s still very close to former castmate, Melissa Peterman.
“She’s easy to break character and get me to laugh. She’s always trying to break me and she does it a lot,” McEntire revealed.
“We love to act together, we love to hang out together,” she added. “We rented a house and all of us we’re in the house together — my bunch and Melissa — and it was just the best. I had the most wonderful experience getting to shoot this movie.”
