Preta Gil, 50, served as a coach during the debut season of The Voice Brasil back in 2012. The singer had been receiving cancer treatment in Brazil and the U.S. She was originally diagnosed with colon cancer in 2023, and in 2024, she announced that the cancer had spread.

Pop Culture reported that Preta died at the age of 50 after her battle with cancer. Preta‘s family revealed that the former Voice coach passed away on Sunday, July 20. In a statement that has been translated to English from Portuguese, they said that she will be “greatly missed” and thanked everyone for their “affection, respect and understanding.”
