Adam Levine stunned the live audience of The Voice with some bizarre behavior on stage.
Why Adam Levine Literally Did a Somersault on The Voice: “I Went Fully Insane…”
Adam Levine has officially earned his title of “Admiral Country” on The Voice: Battle of Champions.
He was so excited, he just couldn’t hide it. The Voice: Battle of Champions Coach Adam Levine has said many times that after years of losing every talented country Artist to Blake Shelton during the Blind Auditions, he’s desperate for a country Artist of his own to coach. The Shelton memories are so strong that half the time, Levine doesn’t bother turning around for a country Artist, though he seems to be making an effort on Season 29 of The Voice.
And finally, on night two of the Blind Auditions, that work was rewarded. Hunter Jordan, 22, of Maysville, Kentucky sang “Let Me Down Easy” by Billy Currington, and quickly earned the coveted Triple Turn. Then it was up to Levine and fellow Coaches John Legend and Kelly Clarkson to battle one another over the singer, with Host Carson Daly predicting, “They’re gonna fight for an hour.”
“[Clarkson] is who I’d want to be my Coach, for sure. Kelly has always been my favorite since she was on the show,” Jordan said backstage, seemingly already decided. He touted her track record, too, saying, “She’s won four times! You can’t argue with four.” But it ain’t over ’til it’s over.

“Kelly’s got this smile on her face like she’s already won,” said Legend as they began pitching themselves. He was only saying what everyone was thinking. But Levine literally stood up to proclaim, “Today is the day!” that he would get a country singer.
“Can you tell me who sings that song?” asked Clarkson, trying to get under Levine’s skin. The Maroon 5 frontman didn’t budge. “I don’t need to,” he said, urging Jordan to “resist the urge to go with the status quo.”
“I’m not Captain Country, I’m not Blake, I’m Admiral Country,” Levine told Jordan. “You’re gonna break the mold because you are finally gonna do what no country singer has ever done before.” Levine then argued that choosing Team Adam would “shake things up” and that he’d have a “bigger career” because fans would be intrigued by them as an “odd couple.”
“Oh wait, odd couple? Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, odd couple. Country, not country, it worked. I’m just saying,” Levine told Jordan.
After Levine’s spirited pitch, Clarkson touted herself as the Coach with the most wins, encouraging Jordan to explore other genres, too. “Don’t close yourself off. I’d love to coach you, I’m a fan, but go ahead, John,” said Clarkson as she turned her attention to her right, but nothing gets past Levine, who immediately called her out for leaning into her Southern accent.
“Soul music, country music, blues music, rock music, those genres blend into each other,” argued Legend, and for a minute, it looked like it could go any which way.
“I thought about this decision for a long time,” said Jordan, before finally announcing, “I think I’m gonna blaze a path with Adam.”
Levine was so excited that he bolted out of his chair and did a somersault onto the stage, followed by a happy jump kick. Today was the day!
“I went fully insane over Hunter because he deserves it, but also because I had to go turbo because I always lose country Artists,” Levine said after his surprising victory. “I went hard, I got him.”
