American Idol Singer Slams “Insane” Fans For Sending Death Threats After Shocking Announcement

Kenedi Anderson from American Idol seemingly criticized “crazy” fans for allegedly sending her death threats after she shockingly announced her decision to serve a full-time mission. Kenedi entered the national scene via American Idol season 20, when she was given one of three platinum tickets.

At only 17, she was considered to be one of the leading contenders to achieve the coveted prize of being an American Idol winner. Then at the height of her popularity, Kenedi pulled out of American Idol for personal reasons but assured her fans that she was not giving up music.

After posting her announcement that she will be serving a mission for The Church Of Christ of Latter-day Saints, she began to receive harsh backlash for her decision. Now it appears Kenedi has responded to all the hate she has received by posting a video to her Instagram page of a song she wrote.

Some of the lyrics said, “All the death threats are only from the sweetness of your heart, you’re just doing your part!” In the corner of the video appeared a comment from a “fan” that simply said, “cult!” which appeared to be in reference to the Mormon church.

After former American Idol season 20 contestant Kenedi announced her intentions to serve her mission, she became inundated with hateful comments. Many of her recent posts received harsh comments, including one from @pupparoo, who posted, “I’m so sad to see a woman like you being fooled by this church. It’s devastating. You’re so young. I know you’re getting a lot of encouragement on here, but please, please consider my comment. The church is not what you think it is.” Kenedi, to her credit, seemed to ignore these comments; instead, she continued to post happy, smiling selfies from Hawaii.

In the comments section of a recent post that showed Kenedi in a swimsuit, one commenter, @bartender64 shared, “She’s messed up. Loves the limelight but couldn’t show her talent when she had the chance!! Now she wants attention!!” Though it does not appear to bother Kenedi, the former American Idol frontrunner is still posting on Instagram during all the backlash she is receiving.

Even though Kenedi has been receiving hate, she also receives a lot of support too, including from @daniellemadsen13, who said, “Congrats Kenedi!! You will be a fantastic missionary!! Hawaii is so lucky to have you!”

Though Kenedi may not respond to each comment, she has decided to post a response to all the people supposedly sending her death threats. Her video is a message to those who have been critical towards her; the hateful and mean rhetoric will not stop her from doing what she believes is right. Kenedi believes deeply that what she is doing will help the world, and she has stated before that she respects that not everyone will believe the same things that she does. However, it is clear that Kenedi is doing her best to use her platform for good.

It generally goes without saying that when someone decides to enter the national spotlight, they can expect to receive critical comments from people who may not agree with them and their beliefs.

However, there has to be a line that does not get crossed, such as sending death threats simply because they do not agree with them or how they choose to live their lives. If fans continue to demonstrate this willingness to be so irresponsible with their words or even imply violence, the ability to be interactive with celebrities and public figures could be taken away.
