Back in May 2025, fans of American Idol watched as Jamal was crowned the winner of season 23. While he builds his career through concerts and new singles, it appears his followers aren’t the only ones recognizing his talent.
On November 7, Jamal received his first-ever Grammy Award nomination, for Best Gospel Performance/Song for the live version of the single “Still.” And if that’s not enough, the American Idol social team commented on it with a joint Instagram post the same day.
“From #AmericanIdol winner to Grammy nominee! 🙌 ,” the caption read. “Congratulations to @officialjamalroberts, who’s up for Best Gospel Performance/Song! 🎶.”

When fans learned that Jamal had received a major honor in the music industry, they couldn’t be more thrilled for him.
“Yeeeessssss so well deserved! He is the unexpected gift for our souls. He has given the world renewed hope and joy. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾,” one person shouted in the comments. “Beautiful song! Congratulations!” another cheered. “@officialjamalroberts deserves all the success he’s had! Best winner in years! So proud and inspired by his journey and success,” a different follower added.
We’re certainly ecstatic about Jamal’s latest career news—and he also has some thoughts about his first Grammy nomination. As he shared with his followers in an emotional Instagram message, the singer couldn’t believe he was getting recognized for something like this so early in his career.
“Woaahhhhhhh did I just hear#STILL was nominated for a Grammy 🙌🏾🙌🏾🔥🔥🔥,” he wrote in the caption on November 7. “God Keeps Showing Out!!!!!!!”
