Warning! Spoilers ahead for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2, episode 20, “Splurges and Secrets.”In a totally unexpected turn, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage answers a nearly decade-old mystery from one of the earliest episodes of Young Sheldon. When The Big Bang Theory reached its 10th season, CBS and Chuck Lorre decided to expand the universe for the first time via a prequel spinoff. Set in Texas, Young Sheldon tackled Sheldon’s childhood living with the rest of the Cooper family. At the end of its run, the series had become so big, it birthed its own offshoot in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

Essentially a sequel, the Montana Jordan and Emily Osment-led series has endeared itself to the public, becoming the most-watched comedy of the 2025-2026 TV cycle. Aside from tackling the marriage of its titular characters, as well as their new life with the McAllisters on the side of Medford, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage also continues Young Sheldon’s story with regular appearances from Mary, Missy, and even Meemaw. It has been future-focused for the most part, however, until the Cooper matriarch’s shocking new revelation.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2, Episode 20 Reveals Who Called The FBI On Sheldon’s Uranium Exploits

Convinced by his wife and her family, Georgie treats himself after a successful month for his business. That said, he goes beyond anyone’s expectation when he buys a jet ski without any plan on where to store it. He reaches out to his mom and asks to park it in his family home for a while, but Mary is against it. When Georgie points out that she let Sheldon put a satellite dish in front of their house, the conversation turns to a callback to Young Sheldon season 1, episode 2, “Rockets, Communists, and the Dewey Decimal System,” wherein the Coopers were visited by the FBI after Sheldon attempted to uranium.

At that point, it seemed like the Bureau found out about the matter because they were generally keeping an eye on these things. Nine years later, Mary confesses to Georgie in “Splurges and Secrets” that it was actually her who called on the boy genius. It is supposed to be a mic drop moment in the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2, episode 20, so the conversation quickly moves on to the pair’s bickering about what to do with the jet ski, but for anyone who watched and loved Young Sheldon, it’s a nifty reveal.

What Mary’s Betrayal On Sheldon Reveals About Their Relationship

It has long been established in The Big Bang Theory franchise that Mary and Sheldon have a special bond. It was revealed in the earliest years of the flagship and was fleshed out in Young Sheldon. While focusing on their dynamic in The Big Bang Theory made sense to expand its storytelling, the prequel spinoff’s exploration of this added a sad context in terms of the Coopers’ dynamic. Oftentimes, Mary would take the side of Sheldon over anyone in the family, to the point that both Georgie and Missy felt left out for the most part.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2’s new reveal confirms that despite what Young Sheldon showed, Mary routinely reached her limit when dealing with Sheldon. The fact that she called the FBI on him, considering how careful she was in terms of preserving their image as a family in Medford, and most important, in their congregation, confirms a different side of the Cooper parents that Sheldon didn’t see while she was still living with them. Previously, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 brought back classic Mary, which was a treat for long-time Young Sheldon fans. Given this new reveal, the spinoff is making the most out of Zoe Perry’s limited appearances in the series.
