Reba McEntire’s Priceless Reaction to JoAnna Garcia Swisher on Happy’s Place: “Whoa!”
Happy’s Place‘s latest Reba reunion delivered plenty of throwbacks for longtime fans.
Season 2 of Happy’s Place just took family reunion to new heights after Reba star JoAnna Garcia Swisher made her way to Reba McEntire’s Knoxville tavern.
How to Watch

These Reba stars go way back. During their shared time on the beloved sitcom, Swisher played Cheyenne, the daughter of McEntire’s character and eventual stepdaughter of Melissa Peterman’s Barbra Jean, and the trio enjoyed a heartwarming reunion in Happy Place‘s latest.
Season 2’s “Social Discontent” kicked off with Isabella (Belissa Escobedo) getting the tavern staff geared up for the bar’s new social media campaign, warning the staff that she and director Steve (Pablo Castelblanco) would be filming that week. While Peterman’s Gabby was eager for camera time, Isabella wanted the video to star Bobbie as the tavern’s glimmering owner.
However, once Isabella and Steve tried orchestrating their vision, it didn’t take them long to learn that Bobbie is a bit camera crazy, transforming into a fun-house mirror as soon as she hears action. With just one look at the footage, Bobbie understood their concerns. Still envisioning Bobbie as the mascot of Happy’s Place, Isabella took it upon herself to hire influencer and budding actress Kenzie to star in the advertisement as a younger Bobbie.
Upon hearing this bright idea, Bobbie remained dubious: who would be able to convincingly play her? Cue the arrival of McEntire’s former on-screen daughter, Swisher.

As one of the most highly anticipated Reba reunions, you better believe Swisher’s arrival as Kenzie led to massive applause as Bobbie’s jaw dropped at Isabella’s choice in casting.
“I’m here for the shoot!” Kenzie announced.
“Whoa! You could be my daughter!” Bobbie exclaimed upon meeting Swisher’s charming Kenzie, leading to uproarious laughter in the in-studio audience.
The hilarity continued as Kenzie revealed she was a social media influencer as a hobby, acting was her passion, and her day job was real estate. As a proud one-time Law & Order guest star, Kenzie assured the Happy’s Place crew that she had an impressive range, so she wasn’t worried about bringing Bobbie to life.
“On Law & Order, I played a 50-year-old dead body,” Kenzie revealed before proudly adding, “I was 20!”
The ridiculousness continued as Kenzie revealed she’d be spending her first day shadowing Bobbie to understand the many layers to her character. With budding dreams of becoming an influencer, Peterman’s Gabby then upped the comedic ante by following Kenzie around, creating a chaotic chain of shadowing all for the sake of a social media campaign.

As Kenzie put on a southern twang and followed Bobbie’s every move, Bobbie soon grew annoyed with the clinginess and well-intended mimicry. During her diligent observational time, Kenzie soon noticed the lingering tension between Bobbie and Emmett (Rex Linn), the former couple who have since agreed to stay friends. While Bobbie was dismayed to open up about the recent break-up, Kenzie correctly guessed that Bobbie and Emmett had been together for a while and that Bobbie had cut things off.
“Breakups are hard, my parents got divorced,” Kenzie told Bobbie. “My dad left my mom for his dental hygienist.”
Swisher is, of course, raising a glass to the chaos caused by Peterman’s iconic Reba character, Barbra Jean, the dental hygienist whose affair with Cheyenne’s father, Brock Hart (Christopher Rich), sparked the divorce between him and Reba in the 2000s sitcom. As the audience cackled with awareness, McEntire struggled to collect herself.
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Bobbie said, stifling laughter. “But to be honest, it sounds like a richly comedic situation.”
Happy’s Place Season 2
Ready for another round? Happy’s Place Season 2 has been serving up heart and humor, with new episodes airing Fridays at 8/7c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.
Starring Reba McEntire, Rex Linn, Belissa Escobedo, Melissa Peterman, Tokala Black Elk, and Pablo Castelblanco, Season 2 of Happy’s Place features even more nostalgic reunions and sitcom hilarity.
The romance between Bobbie and Emmett has been full of “fireworks,” as the two shared their first kiss and even defined their relationship. But, while love is in the air, Emmett is carrying a long-buried secret on Happy’s Place Season 2.

Aside from the hysterical Reba throwback, Kenzie was able to give Bobbie some very valuable advice about moving on from the break-up, which proved to be very helpful. After being delightfully surprised with the results of Kenzie’s shadowing, the Happy’s Place crew gathered to see Kenzie’s arrival as the costumed Bobbie. At long last, the actress would deliver a powerhouse performance.
Kenzie then burst out of Bobbie’s office wearing an identical ensemble and hairstyle, shocking the entire crew after giving her best impression, which included a crazed on-camera expression and all. Despite the director’s best efforts, Kenzie stuck true to realism, leading to an uproarious in-studio applause as Swisher and McEntire posed for the camera with identically kooky faces, just like mother and daughter.
Peterman spoke to NBC Insider about the tongue-in-cheek Reba moments ahead of the episode. “There’s a line with JoAnna that is very funny, and that if you know, you know. The audience will laugh very hard because it’s a little homage to [Reba],” Peterman said, revealing that the Reba throwbacks “landed” among the in-studio audience. “That was gratifying to see.”
