Riley Green Has Joined The Voice Season 30: “Y’all Can Start Calling Me Coach”

Step aside Blake Shelton, The Voice has a new cowboy in town. This fall, country superstar Riley Green is making his debut as a Coach on The Voice Season 30!

After The Voice dropped some hints about a new “country” Coach announcement, sharing photos of the singer’s signature mustache and even a duck hunting scene, Green himself announced the exciting news on Instagram on May 10.

“I guess y’all can start calling me coach… see ya this fall,” Green captioned his post, along with a video of himself receiving a phone call from his fellow Season 30 Coach Kelly Clarkson.

In a video shared on Instagram, Clarkson left a voicemail for Green to formally welcome him to The Voice family.

“Riley Green! This is Kelly Clarkson, that is officially the last time we’re going to use each other’s full names … but we have never officially met, so I’m super stoked to Coach alongside you. Welcome to The Voice!” Clarkson said. “I was stoked when I heard you were going to be a Coach because I’m actually a super-fan of your music, you’re so good. You probably know that because I’ve covered your songs.”

Clarkson has, indeed, put her spin on Green’s hits like “Worst Way” and “Don’t Mind If I Do” on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“Anyway, big fan! But needless to say, fan and all, it’s a competition,” Clarkson’s message continued, adding that she sent Green “a little gift” to help get his “head in the game” ahead of his Coach debut. “Needless to say, I think you’re gonna need to practice because Team Kelly is gonna whoop that a–!”

Green then walked out to see an iconic red Coach chair, decked out with his name, a cowboy hat, and duck calling whistles. “I could get used to this!” The Voice’s newest member said as he hit the button and took his new chair for a spin.

In addition to Clarkson, Green will be joined by Adam Levine, who just won The Voice: Battle of Championswith Alexia Jayy, and a fourth Coach who will be announced soon.

While this season will mark Green’s very first as a Coach, he’s become a familiar face on The Voice in recent years. Green and Ella Langley performed their hit duet “Don’t Mind If I Do” together at The Voice Season 26 finale, and Green soon returned for a performance of his song “Jesus Saves” in honor of Season 28’s finale.
