Adam Levine Under Fire: Old “Genetic” Cheating Claims Resurface Amid Allegations From Five Women
The Maroon 5 frontman is facing a massive public relations crisis as a fifth woman comes forward with flirtatious messages, while critics dig up his controversial past statements on monogamy.
The world of pop culture has been rocked by the unfolding scandal surrounding Adam Levine. What started as a single TikTok accusation has snowballed into a major controversy, with at least five women now claiming the “Sugar” singer engaged in inappropriate communication with them behind the back of his wife, Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo, who is currently pregnant with their third child.

The Fifth Accuser Steps Forward
The latest individual to join the list of accusers is Ashley Russell, a 21-year-old fitness model. Russell recently shared her story, claiming that earlier this year, Levine began frequently viewing her Instagram stories and sending her direct messages.
“I would get a message almost every night around 10 PM,” Russell revealed. She noted that when she warned him about the risks of messaging other women while being married, he abruptly cut off contact but continued to view her content. “His actions were incredibly disrespectful to women. It’s sad that he’s doing this while married,” she added.
Russell joins a growing list that includes:
Summer Stroh: The first to go viral, claiming a year-long affair.
Maryka and Alyson Rosef: Both shared screenshots of flirtatious and suggestive DMs.
Alanna Zabel: Levine’s former yoga teacher, who claimed he sent her a suggestive text saying he wanted to “spend the day with you naked.”
“Monogamy is Not in Our Genetic Makeup”
As the scandal intensifies, the internet has “receipts” from Levine’s past that are coming back to haunt him. Specifically, a 2009 interview with Cosmopolitan has resurfaced, in which the singer made a shocking claim about infidelity.
In the archived interview, Levine stated: “Instinctively, monogamy is not in our genetic makeup. People cheat. I have cheated. And you know what? There is nothing worse than the feeling of doing it.”
While Levine was single at the time of that interview, the quote is being used by critics today as evidence of a long-standing mindset toward commitment—one that fans find particularly troubling given his current family situation.

Levine’s Defense: “I Crossed a Line, But Didn’t Affair”
In an official statement posted to his Instagram, Levine admitted to using “poor judgment” but firmly denied having a physical affair.
“I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period of my life,” he wrote. He emphasized that his wife and family are “all I care about in this world” and vowed to take full responsibility to make amends.
The Public Reaction
Despite the public apology, the backlash has been swift. Social media users have criticized his choice of words—specifically the phrase “crossed a line”—calling it an attempt to downplay his actions.
However, recent sightings of Levine and Prinsloo together in California suggest the couple is attempting to present a united front for the sake of their children. Sources close to Prinsloo say she is “extremely upset” but remains committed to her family.
As more details emerge, the “King of Maroon 5” finds himself in a fight to save not just his marriage, but a reputation that took years to build.
