Tim Allen Reunites With Last Man Standing Co-Star Kaitlyn Dever On Shifting Gears Set

Tim Allen has a surprise reunion with one of his former Last Man Standing co-stars.
The family-based comedy began in 2011 and featured Allen as a family man named Mike Baxter, tracing the antics of dealing with his wife and three children. The supporting cast includes Nancy Travis, Amanda Fuller, Kaitlyn Dever, and Molly Ephraim.
After nine seasons, Last Man Standing wrapped up in 2021. TV fans had to go a couple of years without seeing a major Allen sitcom on television, but they now get it in the form of ABC’s Shifting Gears. After having a debut season earlier this year, that show is so far in its second season, which is ongoing.
Shared on the Shifting Gears Instagram page, Allen has recently had a surprise reunion with Dever. The former Last Man Standing actor showed up on the set of Shifting Gears to reunite with her former on-screen dad.
In the video, Dever is sifting through the fridge on the Shifting Gears set as Allen emerges from behind the corner, surprised to see her. Kat Dennings also runs up to hug her as someone on set gives Dever a warm welcome. Check it out below:

Dever played Eve, Mike’s youngest daughter on Last Man Standing. She was part of the main cast for the first six seasons, then stepped back to have just a recurring role in seasons 7 through 9.
Eve is the only Baxter daughter whose actor stayed the same throughout the show’s run.
Kristin was played by Fuller for the majority of the show, but was portrayed by Alexandra Krosney in season 1. Mandy was played by Ephraim for seasons 1 through 6 before Molly McCook stepped in during the last three seasons.
Last Man Standing was also originally released when Dever was an unknown. She was only 14 years old when the show began, and had just acted in a few one-off TV episodes and small roles. Having one of the main cast roles in a sitcom, especially with a known lead such as Allen, was huge for the actor, helping launch her career.
This history makes Allen and Dever’s post-Last Man Standing reunion all the more emotional. Dever is not set to appear as a character in Shifting Gears (and is probably busy with The Last of Us season 3 and more). Even if she does not break into this show, the reunion is a good reminder that it would be great to see Allen and Dever work together again.
