The Voice just wrapped season 28, where Reba McEntire was one of four coaches mentoring artists.
Fans learned Reba is leaving The Voice for season 29, which airs in February 2026.
Reba also spoke out about why she won’t return to The Voice for season 29.
The Voice just came to a close, and everyone is thrilled about who won season 28. But with the end of a season comes major changes, and fans won’t be happy with the twist the show dropped about one particular coach.
Throughout this season, viewers of the NBC series were thrilled to see Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg serve as coaches for aspiring artists. But in July 2025, the show revealed that season 29 would arrive in the winter of 2026, with a new format and new mentors, including returning coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend.
So, what does this mean for Reba’s future on The Voice? Well, we hate to break it to you, but Reba McEntire is leaving The Voice for season 29. And while there’s always a chance to see her come back in the future, it seems there’s a good reason behind her decision to exit.

NBC
As many fans know, The Voice isn’t the only TV show Reba is working on for NBC. She is also the star of Happy’s Place, which is currently airing season 2 episodes. On Happy’s Place, she works alongside her Reba co-star Melissa Peterman and fiancé Rex Linn—and her decision to leave The Voice might just be a matter of prioritization.
Reba adores working alongside her loved ones (particularly Rex), and she opened up about it during an appearance on the Today show on December 1.
“We have a blast,” she explained while live on the air. “We’re so grateful and thankful that we get to go to work together, work together, and then go home together.”
Despite the happiness we get when we see Reba on Happy’s Place, we know we’re going to miss her when The Voice season 29 rolls around this winter!
Reba first appeared as an advisor for Blake Shelton during the season 1 battle rounds, and was also an advisor for the Knockouts in seasons 8 and 23. And let’s not forget—Reba’s been a coach on the show four times, mentoring in seasons 24 through 26, before going on hiatus and then returning for season 28.
No matter the case, we can’t wait for the day we (hopefully) get to see Reba on The Voice once again!
