TIM Allen has revealed the reasons why a Home Improvement reboot hasn’t materialized, and it’s not because of him.
The actor is currently promoting the release of the fifth film in the Toy Story franchise, in which he returned to voice his beloved character Buzz Lightyear.

While sitting down with Us Weekly to discuss the upcoming release of the sequel, the conversation shifted to his other notable role as Tim “The Toolman” Taylor on the popular sitcom Home Improvement.
Chatter has long circulated that the show would be revived, following many other beloved 90s series that have gotten reboots in recent years.
However, Tim shut down any hopes of a reboot, citing “personality problems” with his three on-screen sons.
Zachery Ty Bryan played Tim and Jill Taylor’s (Patricia Richardson) oldest son, Brad, alongside Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Taran Noah Smith, who played their middle and youngest sons, Randy and Mark.
“They keep talking about how it could move forward, but they get stuck [because] there are some personality problems right now with the boys,” the comedian told the outlet.
“They’ve got their own issues,” Tim added about the former child stars.
“I always thought it would be cool if it was a story about them. That’s a little challenging right now, to put it mildly.”
While the boys were just teenagers when the show ended in 1999 following an eight-season run, they’ve each distanced themselves from acting.
However, they haven’t all stayed out of the public eye.
Zachery, 44, has been arrested and jailed numerous times after a series of violent incidents.
The most recent occurred in November in Eugene, Oregon, where he was booked for allegedly violating a domestic violence order from 2023.
His fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, was also arrested on five DUI charges, three counts of reckless endangerment, and attempted first-degree assault, according to TMZ.
Zachery has had multiple other brushes with the law since divorcing his wife, Carly Matros, in 2020 after 13 years of marriage.
This includes numerous past arrests for domestic violence and driving under the influence.

Jonathan, 44, and Taran, 42, haven’t gone down the same reckless path, but they have disappeared from the limelight.
Patricia revealed in a 2024 podcast interview that The Lion King star was not “interested in acting” anymore.
He hasn’t appeared on TV screens since his guest role on Tim’s former sitcom, Last Man Standing, in 2015.
Jonathan resurfaced in photos obtained by The U.S. Sun in December 2023, looking nearly unrecognizable as he took a casual stroll through his Southern California neighborhood.
Taran also hasn’t acted in years; his last credit was a voice part on the animated series Batman Beyond in 1999.
He also stunned with his changed appearance during a podcast interview in November, sporting long curly hair and a full beard.
It was his first public appearance since 2011, when he reunited with his Home Improvement castmates for an Entertainment Weekly spread.
