Scheduling shake-ups aside, viewers are in for a treat as Lynch returns as the scene-stealing Val. Lynch’s first guest appearance was in Season 2’s “A New Chapter,” when she reconnected with her estranged daughter after a messy divorce. Val has moved in with Gabby, and it’s led to many hysterical moments between the mother-daughter duo, which will continue in Season 2’s “Emotional Real Estate.”
“Luckily, we’ve had her on several times this season,” Happy’s Place executive producer and co-creator Kevin Abbott told NBC Insider. “The role, she just… Oh, my God, she’s so good.”
Happy’s Place executive producer and director Pamela Fryman echoed the enthusiasm, encouraging comedy fans to tune in to see Lynch deliver another grand-slam comedic performance.
“We’ve seen her do so much in so many wonderful shows, but she does something so specific as this character that is so hilarious and grounded and ridiculous,” Fryman said. “Melissa is such a huge fan — we all are, obviously — and every bit of it is hilarious. Every minute of it is great. She’s something.”
Watch Happy’s Place on Fridays at 8/7c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.
