John Legend’s Daughter Gave Him the Cutest & Funniest 2-Word Compliment on The Voice

The Voice Coach’s oldest kiddos, Luna and Miles, joined their dad at work for the Battles round of Season 29.

On The Voice: Battle of Champions, Coaches John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine are pretty evenly matched. All three are veterans of the show with incredible careers and stacked teams. But on the first night of the Battles, Legend had a secret weapon in the audience, giving him the ultimate edge: the support of his kids, Luna and Miles.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

The older half of the Stephens children (Legend and wife Chrissy Teigen also share toddlers Esti and Wren) jumped for joy watching their favorite Artist take the stage, Team Legend’s AJ Robinson. At just 14 years old, Robinson is closer in age to Luna, 9, and Miles, 7, than he is to any of the Coaches. And with his braces and cowboy hat, he is, as everyone agreed, “so cute.”

“He’s 14 and he’s got a belt buckle almost as big as his head and I can’t take my eyes off of the little Howdy Doody!” yelled Clarkson.

“Luna and Miles love him,” agreed Legend, though he ended up choosing Lucas West as the winner of that Battle round after the two singers duetted “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes.

While Luna and Miles were likely bummed to see Robinson go home, Legend made it up to them later on in the episode, earning a hilariously cute pat on the head from his daughter.

In the final Battle of the night, Alexia Jayy took on Moses G. singing The Commodores’ “Nightshift,” a performance that their Coach, Adam Levine, found impressive on both sides.

“I don’t wanna do this so… I quit. Goodbye everybody, it’s been nice, I appreciate it. There’s no loser here. No one loses this one,” Levine said, trying to get out of choosing a winner. Ultimately, though, he did pick Jayy, and without any Saves this season, it looked like Moses G. was going home.

That is, until Legend swooped in with a Steal! Moses G., of course, was thrilled, and so were Legend’s cheerleaders, with the camera panning to them in audience jumping for joy.

“Did you see how happy Luna and Miles were?” Legend asked Clarkson between set-ups.

“You guys were the most excited,” Clarkson told the Stephens kids as they joined their dad on stage, adding, “Watching them be so excited was amazing.”

Luna, especially, was proud of her dad, telling him “Good boy!” and making Clarkson crack up with the comment. Legend smiled at his daughter, asking, “Pat on the back? I made you happy?” and she complied, offering him a “pat pat” on top of his head as Miles crawled up on the red chair.

Validation from your daughter’s gotta feel almost as good as notching another win on The Voice!
