One fan-favorite Young Sheldon character who has been absent for a while now officially comes back in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 set images. CBS’ 2025-2026 programming remains on hiatus even when both ABC and NBC’s scripted shows have come back for the new year. That said, just because new episodes haven’t come out, doesn’t mean that work stoppage continues for so many of these top-rated projects.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage was born organically from the success of Georgie and Mandy’s romance in the Sheldon’s origins show. When Young Sheldon ended, Chuck Lorre and CBS decided to continue the Coopers’ story in Texas while the socially-inept genius moved to California for his masters. Because the shows take place in the same town, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has regularly brought back familiar faces, so it’s noticeable when one prominent character missed the first half of season 2.
Luckily, however, new photos from the set of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage courtesy of Steve Molaro confirm that Annie Potts is back as Meemaw. It’s uncertain what episode Connie will re-emerge, but to say that she has been missed in the comedy would be an understatement. In the snaps, she is confirmed to have scenes with Mary and Mandy, albeit separately. Check out the photos below:
Meemaw’s absence in the first half of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 is likely due to scheduling conflict. The legendary actor booked a regular role in another comedy — Best Medicine. The Fox freshman show follows Josh Charles’ Dr. Martin Best, who is a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a small fishing village where he spent summers as a child. In the show, Potts plays his Aunt Joan.
Logistically, it would have been difficult for Potts to recur in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and be a regular in Best Medicine. The Big Bang Theory franchise films in California, but the Fox show does production on the East Coast. Impressively, however, Lorre and his team were able to come up with a solution to the scheduling issue, even for just an episode, so that Connie can partake in what’s happening in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2.
