The NBC sitcom stars real-life couple Reba McEntire and Rex Linn

Happy’s Place season 2 is bringing more humor and romance.

The latest installment of the NBC sitcom, which returned on Nov. 7, stars former Reba costars Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman, as well as Rex Linn, Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco and Tokala Black Elk.

The series follows McEntire’s character Bobbie, who inherits her late father’s bar in Knoxville, Tenn., fittingly called Happy’s Place. However, things take a turn when her long-lost half-sister, Isabella (Escobedo), shows up, leaving the siblings to take on the challenge together.

While romance might be bubbling on-screen for Bobbie and Emmett (Linn), McEntire and Linn have their own off-screen romance, too. The pair have been dating in real life since 2020. Linn revealed to PEOPLE in October 2024 that sometimes he will “sneak by for a quick kiss” with McEntire while filming.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Peterman called the couple “adorably cute,” adding, “We’re taking a five-minute break or we’re having breakfast or lunch, and you look over … and they’re in a booth at the bar.”

McEntire and Linn may be a couple in real life, but on-screen, the country singer portrays Bobbie, the daughter of the late Happy. Meanwhile, Linn plays Emmett, the cook at the bar and Happy’s longtime friend.

Although they first met in 1991 on the set of a Kenny Rogers movie, McEntire and Linn didn’t start dating until 2020. That year, they made their red carpet debut at the CMA Awards and have since frequently shown up on each other’s social media posts. The actors got engaged in December 2024.

After announcing the news in September 2025 at the Emmy Awards, McEntire shared details about the special moment. The singer told PEOPLE it happened on Christmas Eve at Leiper’s Fork in Tennessee.

McEntire’s relationship with Linn has been a game-changer for her. She explained that she was “happier now than I’ve ever been in my life.”

“It’s amazing. It’s wonderful being 70 and getting to do what I get to do at the level I want to do it,” she continued. “I’ve never been loved by a man like Rex Linn. Rex is a very tender-hearted man, and I just love him with all my heart. He’s a good guy. Real bashful though.”

McEntire also reflected on their dynamic on-set, playing opposite each other on Happy’s Place.

She shared, “Getting to work with Rex, drive to work with Rex and do the show, the rehearsals, drive home, talk about it, rehearse together — that’s what’s really special for me. I’ve not had that before.”
