The Kick Heard ‘Round the World: When Kelly Clarkson Accidentally Struck a Future Star

We all know Kelly Clarkson for her powerhouse vocals and her bubbly, “girl-next-door” personality.

But during the 15th season of The Voice, fans learned that she once had a much more “impactful” encounter with a contestant than anyone could have guessed.

When a talented singer named Zaxai took the stage for his audition, his performance was nothing short of spectacular. However, the real show-stopper happened after the music stopped.

As the coaches began their usual banter, Zaxai dropped a bombshell that left the audience—and Kelly herself—completely floored: Kelly Clarkson had once kicked him in the back of the head.

A Backstage Blunder at Radio City

The incident didn’t happen on a movie set or at a crowded party. It took place years prior at the iconic Radio City Music Hall, where Zaxai was working as an usher.

During one of Kelly’s high-energy performances, she apparently got a bit too close to the edge of the stage—or perhaps a bit too caught up in the choreography.

As she moved, her foot accidentally clipped Zaxai right in the head. At the time, the “Since U Been Gone” singer was completely oblivious to the contact, continuing her show without realizing she’d just “downed” a staff member.

From a Kick to a Kiss

Upon hearing the revelation on The Voice stage, Kelly’s reaction was pure, unfiltered “Classic Kelly.” Mortified and genuinely heartbroken, she gasped in disbelief.

“I felt terrible! I had no idea,” Clarkson lamented, her signature humor quickly turning into sincere apology.

How Kelly Clarkson Became a Pop Legend

To make amends for the years-old accidental assault, Kelly didn’t just offer an apology; she offered a full “healing” session. She rushed onto the stage to give Zaxai a massive hug and—to ensure the wound was finally healed—a sweet kiss right on the spot she had kicked all those years ago.
