Back in 2022, Adam Levine was embroiled in a sexting scandal while married to model Behati Prinsloo (with whom he shares three young children). At the time, Behati chose to stay with the Maroon 5 frontman, but that doesn’t mean that they’ve haven’t had to work through some really tough stuff. And though more than three years have passed since the scandal broke, a source close to the couple is claiming that Behati still checks Adam’s phone just in case he has slipped back into old habits.

Adam confessed to sending flirty text messages in 2022.

In September 2022, a 23-year-old woman named Summer Stroh claimed to have had an affair with Adam, and their (rather embarrassing) Instagram DMs went viral… because of course they did.

At the time, Adam released a statement on his Instagram Stories denying that they’d had a physical relationship while also admitting that the DMs were real and he had crossed the line.

“A lot is being said about me right now and I want to clear the air,” he began (via People). “I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner. I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period in my life. In certain instances it became inappropriate; I have addressed that and taken proactive steps to remedy this with my family.”

He continued, “My wife and my family is all I care about in this world. To be this naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make. I will never make it again. I take full responsibility. We will get through it. And we will get through it together.”

His poor decision still has an impact on his marriage today.

According to what a source close to the couple told the National Enquirer‘s Rob Shuter, Behati still checks up on Adam’s phone — with his permission.

“It’s not obsessive — it’s agreed-upon accountability,” the insider said.

They added that, understandably, the situation did end up having a lasting impact on Behati and Adam’s marriage.

“Trust was cracked. When that happens, you don’t just hug it out and go back to normal. You rebuild — brick by brick,” they said, with another friend adding that they “chose to do the work.”

Still, the couple has stuck together.

By all social media appearances, Adam and Behati are still going strong, despite the major speed bump they hit in their relationship just a few years ago, and in July 2025, they celebrated 11 years of marriage.

Maybe it’ll all be smooth sailing for these two from here on out. All that matters is that their relationship works for them.
