“Jeopardy!” hasn’t changed that much over the years — just ask the quiz show’s host.
“I love that the show is such a stalwart,” Ken Jennings previously told the Deseret News after winning the “Greatest of All Time” tournament in 2020. “Tonight’s episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ almost down to the second will be the same as an episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ from 1995 or 1985. They got it right the first time. And there’s just not a lot that’s like that in our culture, that never dumbed down or sped up.”
The show’s core format has stayed the same, but as “Jeopardy!” returns for its 42nd season on Monday, there will be a major change: For the first time in the show’s history, new episodes will be available for streaming.
‘Jeopardy!’ returns for 42nd season — and streams new episodes
As the newest season of “Jeopardy!” begins Monday, Sept. 8, episodes will be available to stream the following day on Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and Peacock in the United States, and on the platform Crave in Canada, according to a news release shared with the Deseret News.
A major goal of this move is to expand the viewership and reach of “Jeopardy!”, which draws in roughly 7 million viewers each night, The New York Times previously reported.
“Having new episodes of ‘Jeopardy!’ available on streaming for the first time is a huge milestone in the history of our program, and we look forward to welcoming a new audience on these platforms,” said Suzanne Prete, president of game shows for Sony Pictures Television, in a statement. “We want to celebrate that leap forward while also making sure our viewers know that if they watch ‘Jeopardy!’ on their local station, they will continue to be able to do so. Our affiliate and owned station partners around the country remain essential to the show’s success.”
The show is also making archived episodes from past seasons available for streaming — including every game from Jennings’ record-setting 74-game winning streak back in 2004, per the news release.

What to expect from the ‘Jeopardy!’ Season 42 premiere
“Jeopardy!” ended its 41st season in dramatic fashion, with 16-time champ Scott Riccardi’s impressive winning streak coming to an end, as the Deseret News previously reported.
Jonathan Hugendubler, an adjunct professor and trivia host from Baltimore, defeated Riccardi in the final game of Season 41 and will seek a second win during the Season 42 premiere.
Riccardi’s run led him to tie with contestant Ryan Long for the 10th spot for most consecutive wins in “Jeopardy!” history, and put him at No. 8 for all-time “Jeopardy!” winnings in regular season play with $455,000.
