Adam Levine declared himself as the New Captain of Country as he finally found himself a country artist to coach.

Ever since Adam Levine returned to The Voice after his 6-year break, he’s been looking for that ‘spark’. And now he’s found it.

As per People, in the March 2 episode of Season 27 of The Voice, Adam Levine branded himself the “Captain of Country” after bagging 22-year-old country singer Hunter Jordan. This was no easy feat, as Jordan originally wanted pop legend Kelly Clarkson to be his coach.

Jordan’s blind audition saw him singing Billy Currington’s “Let Me Down Easy”. His great performance led to an impressive three-chair turn. Levine didn’t waste any time in trying to snatch him up — “I know greatness when I hear it”, he commented.

Levine added that he wanted Jordan to realize that the best thing to do was to blaze a trail. He urged the singer to “resist the urge to go with the status quo”, and to do “what no country singer has done before… shake things up”.

Levine’s strong case seemed to be enough for Jordan, as he rejected Clarkson and John Legend to strike up a deal with Levine. Jordan stated, “I think I’m going to blaze a path with Adam”.

That revelation caused Levine to fall to the floor in excitement. He then proceeded to brand himself “‘Captain Country’, or at least ‘Admiral Country’.”

But why did he leave The Voice back in 2019? It turns out that he got burnt out.

He revealed the reason behind his departure in a 2025 interview with People. “Doing it for so long, so consistently, for almost eight or nine years of my life, you can definitely start to get burnt”, he explained.

He continued, “I did it for this really long period of time so I started to feel like I was kind of getting away from… making music and playing music.” Adam Levine also revealed that The Voice was a “huge part” of his life.
