The official trailer for the upcoming season of The Voice wastes no time jumping into the action as Legend tells the Season 29 Artists, “It’s the Battle of Champions for a reason.”

From nostalgic nods to The Voice’s early era to red chair remixes that are sure to give the Coaches plenty of twists and turns to navigate, The Voice: Battle of Champions is raising the stakes in every way as Levine, Legend, and Clarkson duke it out for the ultimate title.

In one clip, Levine can be seen predictably boasting about his lengthy Voice resume as the longest-running red chair icon. “I’m the first Coach ever to win the show!” Levine says, but Clarkson wasn’t having any of it.

“But I have won the most!” Clarkson exclaims, reminding Levine of her running tally of victories.

Of course, Season 29 is set to deliver an all-new lineup of dynamite Artists all ready to see their dreams actualized as a member of Team Kelly, Team Adam, and Team Legend. “That was explosive,” Levine can be heard telling one of the Artists. “Something the show has never seen.”

Meanwhile, Clarkson struggles to remain in her chair while watching some of the electrifying performances, with Levine commenting, “You broke Kelly.”

As Host Carson Daly is excited to announce in the trailer, Season 29’s Battle of Champions will also introduce a brand new “super steal.” The Super Steal is an honor given to the Coach with the most 3-Chair Turns after the Blinds, an automatic Super Steal for the Battles that trumps another Coach’s attempt to steal an Artist and secures their win.

While the Season 29 trailer teased some of the “Super Battles” on the horizon, it’s clear that fans will be in no shortage of the hysterical banter among the Coaches that’s become a timeless hallmark of the NBC competition series.

“I know you’re gonna keep talking, Adam,” Legend quipped before Levine tells him, without skipping a beat, “Oh, I sure am gonna keep talking.” Next, we see Levine flex his status over winning Best New Artist, a milestone Legend was keen to remind the Maroon 5 frontman he also accomplished.

“We both won,” Legend reminded him, getting a chuckle from Clarkson.

“I hate when dad and dad fight,” Clarkson joked, getting a big laugh from the crowd.

Aside from the hallmark humor among the Coaches panel, the Battle of Champions version of the competition is set to deliver quite a few surprises along the way. One of these shake-ups is the In-Season All-Star Competition during Knockouts, which brings the exciting return of several Voice veterans who will compete in head-to-head sing-offs.

The Coach with the most sing-off wins is guaranteed a second Season 29 Artist in the Finale, and with former icons like Jordan Smith, Maelyn Jarmon, Javier Colon, Jake Hoot, Girl Named Tom, and Renzo teased as returning to the competition, it’s any Coach’s game.

The thrills don’t end there, either. Clarkson, Levine, and Legend are not the only red chair O.G.s returning to The Voice stage.

“The one and only Cee Lo Green!” Daly exclaims in the trailer as Cee Lo Green arrives in a crimson ensemble complete with a full-stage cape. That’s right — red chair veteran CeeLo Green is back, serving a very crucial role in the Knockouts as a Judge for the In-Season All-Star Competition.

Impressed with the theatrical arrival, Clarkson teased, “I love the entrance, I’m totally gonna steal it for my Vegas show.”
