American Idol judge Carrie Underwood marked the end of the season 24 auditions with a sweet Instagram post, thanking fans for their support. In 2025, Carrie became an American Idol season 23 judge when she took over for Katy Perry, who’d left the show after seven seasons in order to focus on her own music career again. Carrie joined judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan as they searched for the next music superstar.

Carrie won American Idol season 4 in 2005, and has since become a global superstar. When she began her tenure as an American Idol judge, the country music legend had 85 million records sold worldwide, 28 #1 singles, 8 Grammys, 17 American Music Awards, 10 People’s Choice Awards, and 7 CMA Awards. She’s one of American Idol’s biggest success stories, and she was the perfect choice for a judge on the show.

American Idol season 24 featured four audition episodes, in which Carrie, Lionel, and Luke awarded golden tickets to Hollywood Week in Nashville to standout contestants. The audition episodes have now concluded. Now, as Carrie looks towards the future of American Idol season 24, she’s expressing her gratitude to her fans.

Carrie Underwood Thanked Her Fans After The American Idol Season 24 Auditions Came To A Close

American Idol season 24 premiered on January 26, and included four audition episodes. After the final audition episode aired on February 16, Carrie took to Instagram to thank her fans for their support with a sweet post. Her caption read, “My second season of judging auditions on @americanidol has been just as special as my first. Thank YOU for watching and supporting!! #CUonIDOL.”

Carrie also included a carousel of photographs from the American Idol season 24 auditions, including one of her, Lionel, and Luke laughing hysterically at the judges’ table. She also posted portraits of the judges and host Ryan Seacrest, a picture of the judges posing with Brad Paisley, who’d come to the auditions to prank her with Luke, and a still shot of herself dancing with season 24 contestant Trace Casanova.

The comments section of the post was filled with words of love and gratitude for Carrie from her fans. In addition, American Idol itself gushed, “We love you so much!”

Although Carrie celebrated the end of the American Idol season 24 auditions, the season is just getting started. Next, the show will air two episodes featuring Hollywood Week in Nashville, airing on February 23 and March 2. There, Carrie, Luke, and Lionel had the difficult task of narrowing down the contestants to the Top 30.

Then, American Idol heads to Hawaii for the new ‘Ohana Round, airing on March 9, during which the Top 30 contestants will perform for a focus group, after which the Top 20 will be revealed. The Top 20 will then perform for America’s Vote on March 16 and March 23. After that, the live shows will begin on March 30.

American Idol season 24 has been thrilling so far, and Carrie has been a big reason why. From her funny antics to her sincere advice for the contestants to her impromptu singing performances, she’s made the show very entertaining. As a former American Idol contestant who won the show, Carrie brings a unique perspective that no other judge in the history of the show has ever had. Carrie might be grateful for her fans, but they’re just as thankful that she came back to American Idol.

American Idol airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
