What To Know

Days after being announced as a coach on The Voice, Riley Green shared a moment with former coach Michael Bublé at the ACM Awards
Bublé predicted that the rookie will win the show in his first season as a coach.
Green also revealed that he spoke to fellow Season 30 coach Kelly Clarkson, who engaged in some smack talking.

Riley Green is headed to The Voice as a coach for Season 30, and he got to mingle with some past coaches at the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 17.

Kelsea Ballerini, Dan + Shay, Blake Shelton, and Michael Bublé were all at the event, and Green sat at the same table as the latter two.

“I’m still trying to explain to [Shelton] who I am,” Green joked to Entertainment Tonight. “Blake Shelton’s so famous, you know? Michael Bublé was at my table. He’s got a little knowledge about that kind of stuff, too.”

Bublé happened to be walking by during Green’s backstage interview, and he jumped in to send some love. “I don’t want to interrupt, but I love you, and I’ll see you later. Future winner, dude. I feel it,” the two-time Voice champion said. “I’ll be voting. I’ll be cheating by voting a bunch of times.”

Bublé confirmed that he thinks Green can win the show in his first season, leaving the “There Was This Girl” singer speechless. “I think he’s a tremendous musician,” Bublé added. “He’s a beautiful guy. He’s an empathetic guy.”

Earlier in the night, Green spoke to the same outlet about his venture into the singing competition. “It’s going to be awesome,” he teased. “I don’t know that I have time for another chapter, but I’m so excited about getting to go and, probably more than anything, help some up-and-coming artists. I imagine I’ll get a little more attached than I realized I would. I think it’ll be surprising what I’m drawn to. People probably think it’s traditional country, but I grew up listening to all kinds of music.”

Green also revealed that he recently spoke to Kelly Clarkson, a fellow Season 30 judge who has won the show four times. “She talked a little trash,” Green shared. The duo will be joined by veteran coach Adam Levine, a four-time winner, and Queen Latifah, another newbie.
